Can be done in the reverse direction just as easily. This is a bit
of everything with a lot of options you can take to lengthen or shorten
the ride once you get to know the other trails in the area.
Start by parking or riding to the cricket field just past Branford Park up the Maitai Valley Road.
Waypoint 1 (S41 16.369 E173 18.550)
From here follow the walking track up the south side of the valley, up to the gate and bridge at the bottom of Golf Road.
Waypoint 2 (S41 16.682 E173 19.630)
Turn
right at the bridge and grind your way up Golf Road up over the
gate and up the valley to a major intersection of several tracks.
Waypoint 3 (S41 16.962 E173 18.908)
From
here turn right and follow the road downhill for a short distance
before starting a further uphill grind all the way to the top of
Fireball Road.

Maitai Track
| Waypoint 4 (S41 17.203 E173 18.726)
Take the road, or the tracks at the side of the road down Fireball road to the gate at the top of the Tantragee saddle.
Waypoint 5 (S41 17.609 E173 18.571)
From here you can take the singletrack or road down to the road junction that splits off to the Maitai camp.
Waypoint 6 (S41 17.508 E173 18.821)
Take
the Left hand fork and ride down through the fords and through the gate
(close it after yourself) until you get to the bottom of the valley and
another junction that you are likely to overshoot.
Waypoint 7 (S41 17.241 E173 19.532)
Turn left and follow the track all the way back to the carpark or on back to town.
