Monarch Crest Trail
Monarch Crest Trail starts on Monarch Pass at 11,300ft then climbs to 12,000ft before descending to the town of Salida at around 7500ft via the Rainbow Trail. This was the fifth day of a 14 day tour with singletrackcolorado.co.nz. It took us 4.25 hours riding time and there were some sharp climbs on the way, so with the altitude effect we were pretty stuffed at the end of the day. Next day was a rest day in Crested Butte.
