2010 Mammoth

Course: Branford Park; Maitai Rd; Groom Rd; Tantragee Saddle; Fireball Rd; New Summit Rd; Firball; Pipeline; Tantragee Rd; Groom Rd; Arboretum; Maitai Rd; Central Rd; Sharlands Rd; Thomas Rd; R&R; Gliding Glovers; Wiggles; Waggles; Sharlands Rd; Maitai Rd; Branford Park.
Very wet and windy, especially up top on Central Rd with riders nearly getting blown off their bikes and visibility down to 5-10 metres in places.
Andy MacDonald's crank fell off, he found Andrew Read's parents spectating with an 8mm allen key and was able to keep going.
Nick Ross missed an arrow and rode down Rifle Range Rd while leading by about a minute, he lost 5 minutes and couldn't reel Paul McNabb in who went on to win.
Lots of smiles at finish - Subway had heaps of food waiting for cols, wet finishers.
Thankfully everybody came out of the forest, with Mammoth stalwarts Mike Merrick and Bryce Buckland coming out to play and having a good time. Tough day, real old fashioned MTB event with the weather etc.
